SHANE AND ROSE EXPERIENCE A CHANGE IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP -- At dinner with Rose (Sophie Nélisse), Shane (Hudson Williams) confirms her suspicions and shares that he is gay, and they agree to stay close as friends. At the 2017 All-Star Game, Ilya (Connor Storrie) and Shane reconnect and play on the same team for the first time. When Shane suggests their bond has grown more meaningful, Ilya struggles, explaining that his family and life in Russia would make such a relationship difficult, and he becomes emotional in Shane’s arms. After learning of his father’s passing, Ilya returns to Moscow for the funeral, where tensions with his brother lead to a painful falling out. Overwhelmed, Ilya calls Shane, who encourages him to express everything he’s feeling; in doing so, Ilya admits how deeply he cares for him. Later, when Shane is injured during a Boston versus Montreal game, Ilya visits him in the hospital, where a groggy Shane invites him to spend the summer at his family’s cottage. As Shane recovers there, they watch on TV as Scott wins the MLH Cup with the New York Admirals and publicly celebrates with Kip, and inspired by the moment, Ilya calls Shane and accepts the invitation. Franc¸ois Arnaud, Christina Chang, Robbie G.K., Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, and Dylan Walsh also star.
