KASSIE CANTER
Kassie Canter was named Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Media Relations, in August 1998. She serves as NBC’s chief corporate spokesperson and oversees all of the company’s media relations departments, including corporate, entertainment, news, sports, CNBC and MSNBC. In addition, she manages NBC’s community affairs department and “The More You Know,” the network’s Emmy Award-winning public service campaign. She also supervises the company’s philanthropic activities, internal communications, editorial services and viewer relations. She reports to Bob Wright, chairman and CEO of NBC.
Previously, Canter had served since January 1998 as the vice president of NBC News Communications and Corporate Affairs, overseeing communications issues and media relations for NBC News around the globe. She joined NBC in September 1997 as vice president of NBC Corporate Communications and Corporate Affairs.
Before joining NBC, Canter had been a senior vice president of Robinson, Lerer Montgomery, where she provided strategic communications, public relations, crisis management and marketing counsel to for-profit and not-for-profit corporations. Prior to that, Canter held a number of posts in state and national political campaigns, as well as staff positions in city and state government in Massachusetts.
Canter holds a master’s degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and received her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. Canter lives in New York City.
